An escape room is a live, interactive adventure where your team is locked inside a themed room and must solve a series of puzzles, find hidden clues, and crack codes to escape before the 60-minute clock runs out. Think of it as stepping inside a real-life video game or movie. At Breakout KC, we like to say it makes every person feel like Jason Bourne for 60 minutes.

Each game is 60 minutes long. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early so your group can check in, sign waivers, and get briefed by your game guide before the clock starts. Total visit time is typically about 90 minutes.

The rooms are designed so you feel immersed in the puzzle, but you are never physically locked in. You can exit at any time if needed. Safety is always our top priority.

Breakout KC is Kansas City's original and highest-rated escape room company. We have two locations River Market in downtown Kansas City, MO and Park Place in Leawood, KS with 12 unique rooms across both venues.

Dress comfortably. You may be moving around, crouching, or crawling in some rooms. Your game guide will walk you through everything before you start.

Yes, all players must sign a waiver before playing. You can sign in advance at breakoutkc.com/waiver to save time on arrival. Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Most rooms accommodate 2-8 players. Some rooms start at 3 players minimum. For groups larger than 8, we can book multiple rooms simultaneously so everyone plays at the same time. We regularly host groups of 20, 40, even 80 people across both locations.

Absolutely! Many of our rooms are great for families with kids. We also offer Kids Mode on select rooms a specially adapted version designed for younger players with simplified puzzles and a more kid-friendly experience. One of the best. Escape rooms require communication, creative thinking, delegation, and working under pressure as a team real skills that translate to the workplace. We host corporate off-sites, company parties, and team-building events regularly. We have 12 rooms total: 8 at River Market in downtown Kansas City, and 4 at Park Place in Leawood, KS. Rooms range from beginner-friendly to expert-level, with themes ranging from a Y2K computer lab to a Wild West gambling den to a haunted hotel room.

If it's your first time, we recommend starting with one of our beginner-friendly rooms: Runaway Railcar at River Market or National Security at Park Place. Both are designed to be approachable for all experience levels while still being a great time. Once you're hooked, work your way up to the expert rooms like The Gambler or Undercover.

Our live actor rooms feature a real human actor inside the room with you as part of the story. It adds a whole other level of immersion and intensity. The Raid at River Market is our live actor experience. It's not a jump-scare haunted house it's theatrical, story-driven, and seriously fun.

Yes. Your game guide monitors you throughout the experience and can send hints to a screen inside the room when your group requests them. We want you to have a great time hints are there to keep the game moving and make sure you finish on a high note.
